Stage Technology
Whether in theatres, opera houses or concert halls, low-noise gear units and slim housing designs with high permissible torques are required in stage technology. When the curtain rises or scenery is moved, ZAE gear units perform their role impressively.
Unrivalled enjoyment of the arts
"Culture begins in the heart of each individual," wrote Austrian playwright, actor and playwright Johann Nepomuk Nestroy as early as in the 19th Century. We agree wholeheartedly and would also like to add, "especially if we can enjoy them without being disturbed".
The technology in opera houses and theatres, city halls and event venues is subject to special design criteria due to safety regulations. At the same time, the gear units used, which for instance, are used to move scenery around, need to be as quiet as possible so as not to disturb the enjoyment of the performance. Because of the space limitations, very slim housing designs coupled with highly permissible torques are required in the upper machinery area.
Our worm gears play their trump card
Our worm gears get to play their trump card when quiet operation is required. Depending on your requirements, we develop special customer-specific solutions and sometimes modified worm gear units can be used that remain close to our standard. In contrast, both our bevel gear transfer cases and worm gear units are used in the lower machinery area, e.g. to raise platforms for the orchestra or actors.
Owing to the demanding requirements, validation of our gear units is always carried out on our ZAE test benches. The famous opera houses in Sydney and the Elbphilarmonie concert hall in Hamburg also rely on this quality. We're already looking forward to our next visit – with per-fectly matched technology for all types of music.
